May 11, 1953 — Lehighton’s Eddie Levendusky and Dick Dotter both win a pair of events at the annual Lehigh Valley League track and field meet, and the Indians finish tied for first in the team standings with Palmerton. Levendusky captures the 100-yard race in 10.6 seconds and the 220 in 24.1. Dotter takes the 880 in 2:07.1 and the mile in a meet record of 4:39.5. The Tribe also receives a first from Denny Roth in the high jump (5-5). The Blue Bombers receive top performances from George Perich in the broad jump (19-2 1/2) and Ronnie Christman in the 440 (56.4). Palmerton’s mile relay team of Christman, Mahalik, Greenwood, and Sheckler also sets a new meet record with a time of 3:42.
