LANCASTER (AP) — The Pennsylvania man charged with the 1992 sexual assault and strangulation of an elementary school teacher has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Raymond Rowe was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Lancaster County Court Thursday, and his attorney did not immediately return a request for comment. LNP newspaper reports the 49-year-old man faces charges of criminal homicide, four counts of rape, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and burglary in the death of 25-year-old Christy Mirack.
Prosecutors say a formal arraignment where Rowe will enter a plea will take place on Aug. 24 and he remains held without bail.
Police were unable to identify Rowe as a suspect until they uncovered genealogical data leading them to the professional DJ.
