Vehicle stops lead to arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional Police reported on the following arrests.

• Police said a vehicle was stopped at 2:46 a.m. on March 18 along Route 115, north of Route 940, in Tobyhanna Township, for an equipment violation.While speaking with the driver, identified as Michael Rehl II, 25, of Lehighton, the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle was detected. A search of the vehicle resulted in marijuana and a pipe recovered. Rehl also showed signs of drug impairment. Rehl was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. A passenger, identified as Samantha Steigerwalt, 21, also of Lehighton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for items found in her purse. Both were transported to the county DUI center for processing. It was later determined that Rehl had marijuana and methamphetamine in his system, police said.• On Dec. 16, 2016, a vehicle was stopped along Route 196 in Mount Pocono. The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted and marijuana found. A passenger, identified as Amy Pfeiffer, 27, of Tannersville, admitted the marijuana was hers. She was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
