Man assaults woman, returns to prison a day after being released

A Tamaqua man was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville just one day after being released.

Jerry J. Feathers, 36, ofRace Street, Tamaqua, was taken to the county prison onSunday after being arraigned before duty District Judge James Reiley, of Pottsville, on charges of simple assault and harassment in a domestic violence case. Later that day he was able to post the required bail, 10 percent of $7,500. On his way back to town he called his victim and threatened to slice her throat.He showed up at the home at 12:07 a.m. May 22.The victim said he called her and told her to unlock the front door as he was on his way. She did.Once he was inside Feathers punched the woman in the face and grabbed her by the hair as she attempted to call 911. She was able to run outside, where neighbors came to her aid.Feathers fled the scene but one of the witnesses followed him and updated police on his whereabouts. He was taken into custody on South Railroad Street.He was again arraigned before Judge Reiley, charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. The judge set bail at $50,000 straight.
