State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Monroe County roads.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 1:09 p.m. on June 15 along Weir Mountain Road at the intersection with Old Stagecoach Road in Polk Township.Troopers said Dale W. Burger, 67, of Kunkletown, was traveling southbound on Weir Mountain Road while Jessia L. Gantert, 31, of Henryville, was eastbound on Old Stage Road.Troopers said Gantert failed to stop for a properly posted stop sign, resulting in Burger’s 2003 GMC Sierra truck striking the left rear of Ganert's 2008 Saab 9-7X. Upon impact the Saab spun 180 degrees and came to rest facing westward on the west side of Old Stagecoach Road. The GMC came to rest in the westbound lane facing southeast.No one was injured.Troopers cited Gantert for a stop sign violation.• A hit-and-run crash was reported at 12:50 p.m. on June 16 along Weir Lake Road in Ross Township. Troopers said a vehicle was driven northbound and the driver negotiated a curve at a speed too fast for conditions. The vehicle left the road and struck a barn at 609 Weir Lake Road. The driver then left the scene without speaking to the barn owner, Sherri L. Blose, 59, Kunkletown.The hit-and-run vehicle was described as being a beige or champagne sedan with heavy damage to the driver’s side rear area, taillight damage and driver’s side rear of the vehicle and window broken on the vehicle.Anyone with information concerning this incident or the vehicle in question is asked to call troopers at 610-681-1850.
