A Tamaqua man faces charges after using two people's vehicles without permission.
VencientW. Royal, 54, who was stayingin the 200 block of Pine Street, Tamaqua, faces two counts each of theft by unlawful taking (felony 3), criminal mischief, criminal mischief resulting in monetary loss, driving with a suspended license and driving a motorcycle without a valid license.The first victim contacted Tamaqua police at 7:49 p.m. June 28 to file a complaint that someone had used his motorcycle without permission, then returned it in a damaged condition. The vehicle had been stored at a friend's garage at 210 Pine St. Damage was estimated to be about $3,000 to the tires, chrome, rubber sleeve and motor.Officers then went to thePine Street address and spoke with the owner of the garage. He told police that Royal took the bike for a ride. He also said the man used his truck and motorcycle without permission during the past month. They went to check on his 1987 Harley Davidson XL and found significant damage, including bent handlebars, chipped chrome over the front tire, scratched chrome under the engine, scratched and chipped gas caps and a broken right peg. That damage was estimated at $2,000.There was no reported damage to his 1986 Chevrolet Silverado truck.A warrant was requested for Royal's arrest.
