A Northumberland County man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash about 5:40 a.m. on Thursday along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said David A. Tucker, 31, of Edwardsville, Luzerne County, was southbound operating a 2016 Freightliner tractor with trailer being followed by Peter M. Kulik III, 33, of Kulpmont, driving a 2006 Dodge Charger who was driving at a high rate of speed.Troopers said Kulik's Charger crashed into the rear of the trailer, wedging underneath it. Tucker then pulled to the side of the road dragging the Charger with the trailer.Kulik was able to climb out of his vehicle despite the severity of the crash. He was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville Campus, with suspected serious injuries, troopers said. Tucker was not injured.The Charger sustained severe damages and was towed. The tractor-trailer rig was driven from the scene, troopers added. Troopers cited Kulik for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
