State police at the Lehighton barracks have announced that in an effort to reduce the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities on roadways in Carbon and Monroe counties, Troop N officers will be conducting stationary/roving DUI patrols on various roads in the two counties from midnight Friday to midnight Monday.
Sgt. Joseph Sparich, commander of the Lehighton barracks located in Towamensing Township, said the Labor Day holiday patrols are part of the Pennsylvania State Police Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Driving (STEAD D) program and will include stationary checkpoints on a primary roadway in each county.
