Pedestrian struck, killed in Monroe

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Monroe County Wednesday night, according to police.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police identified the man as 67-year-old John Janosevic of Tobyhanna.

According to a news release, Janosevic was struck around 11 p.m. Wednesday night, while walking along Route 196 in the borough.

He was reportedly walking in the middle of the northbound lane of the road when he was struck.

Janosevic was also wearing dark clothing which may be a contributing factor to the crash, according to police.

PMRPD are still investigating the incident, and accident reconstruction is underway.

Pocono Mountain Regional EMS, Coolbaugh Twp. Fire Department and the Monroe County Coroner’s Office all assisted on scene.
