A New York man had minor injuries after he fell asleep while driving on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township at 6:38 p.m. Dec. 16.
State police at Fern Ridge said John C. Marino, 20, was operating a 2016 Mazda eastbound when he fell asleep and the car traveled across both lanes onto the right shoulder. It then entered a grassy area on the roadside, began sliding sideways down an embankment and struck a large tree.
The vehicle sustained disabling damaged and was towed from the scene.
Police said Marino was transported to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center by the Lake Harmony EMS. The Lake Harmony Fire Company also responded to the scene.
