Tamaqua police report

Tamaqua police released information on several recent citations issued by the department, including a case involving a 13-year-old boy.

Officers were called to a disturbance at the Burger King restaurant along Center Street at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 13. The manager on duty explained they were having issues with a “group of kids who are always causing problems.” In this case one of the boys was given a cup to get water but instead filled the cup with ice tea for which he didn’t pay.

When told he was stealing, he made an obscene gesture and cursed at the woman before leaving.

He was identified and cited for disorderly conduct.

Ann Marie Hoffman, 39, and Richard Douglas George, 33, both of 1 S. Lehigh St., Tamaqua, were both cited after a confrontation at the Santander Bank branch, 408 E. Broad St., on Dec. 13.

The couple became irate after being told Hoffman’s account was overdrawn with George cursing and threatening bank employees.

Hoffman was cited for disorderly conduct.

George, who also threatened a police officer, was arraigned on charges of making terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $20,000 unsecured by duty District Judge David Rossi of Tremont. George was also banned from the bank.

Francesco Pavia, 45, of Jim Thorpe, was cited for harassment by communication after he repeatedly made phone calls to a Tamaqua man on Dec. 23. He had previously been warned to avoid the victim.
