Weather conditions result in crash

Saturday’s snowy weather conditions led to a crash along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Val H. Linton, 59, of Bronx, New York, was driving a 1998 Volvo tractor with trailer southbound about 2:30 p.m. when he observed several vehicles ahead of him had spun out and were stopped in the travel lanes.

Linton attempted to stop but was going too fast for conditions. His rig slid on the snow-covered road and struck a parked 2010 Ford F105 pickup truck along the west side of the road. Linton and his passenger, Ashley N. Mayer, 23, Ephrata, Lancaster County, were not injured.

Linton was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
