Lehighton state police investigate DUIs

State police at the Lehighton barracks have filed charges in the following driving under the influence incidents.

• Christopher M. Gonzalez, 23, of Gilbert, is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after an incident at 7:40 p.m. Feb. 15 in the 600 block of Middle Creek Road in Polk Township. State police said he was stopped in an agricultural field for a traffic violation, after which time police found the marijuana and paraphernalia on the front seat of the vehicle.

• A 38-year-old Brodheadsville woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs as a result of a traffic stop made by state police. She was stopped at 4:22 p.m. March 1 in the area of Route 209 north, east of the intersection with Fairgrounds Road in Chestnuthill Township, after police observed her committing a traffic violation. Police said she appeared to be under the influence of drugs and refused to submit to a blood test. Police did not provide her name.

• A 60-year-old Lehighton man is facing charges after state police stopped him at White and Forge streets in Bowmanstown for having committed traffic violations. The incident happened at 5:29 p.m. Feb. 28. Police said it was discovered the man was driving while his license is suspended. The man displayed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, police said. Police did not release his name.

• A 58-year-old Kunkletown man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after state police stopped a vehicle he was driving at 5:50 p.m. March 8. The man, who was not identified by police, was stopped in the area of Jonas Road, about a mile east of Route 534 in Polk Township, after officers observed him committing a traffic violation. He was taken for a blood test.
