A search and rescue operation in Monroe County on Sunday was a success.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said they were dispatched to Brookside Drive in Pocono Pines, about 9:08 p.m. for a report of a woman who was lost in the woods near Pinecrest Lake. Tobyhanna Fire Company volunteers arrived and used the sirens on their equipment to instruct the 55-year-old woman to walk toward the sound. At this point the woman stated she was in thick brush and could not walk. She was crawling on the ground but not making progress and her cellphone went dead. Fire company members searched the woods and were able to locate her around 11 p.m.
After being brought to safety she was checked out by EMS personnel and released.
