Slashes tires after break up

A Tamaqua man was cited for his actions after becoming upset over a break up.

Robert Hibbler, 67, of Pine Street, called his ex-girlfriend multiple times during the day on April 21, starting around 9 a.m. The victim contacted police at 7:56 p.m. after growing weary of the name calling and hang up calls.

Hibbler admitted making the calls but felt they didn’t amount to harassment as he said nothing during most of them. He was told he was wrong and would be cited for harassment.

That same day, at 9:46 p.m., a witness saw Hibbler walk along Rolling Mill Avenue, stop at a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt and bend down. There was an immediate hissing sound, then Hibbler stood up and continued walking along the street. The Cobalt is owned by the victim who reported the harassing phone calls.

Hibbler later admitted to puncturing the tire and offered to pay for a replacement.

He was cited for harassment and criminal mischief.
