A Drums man was injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash at 5:32 a.m. Thursday on Route 895, Summer Mountain Road, in East Brunswick Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said John R. Culp was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital by the Schuylkill EMS corps.

He was the driver of a 2006 Toyota Tacoma that was westbound on Route 895 when the operator attempted to pass a tractor-trailer in the opposite lane of travel. Police said the Tacoma’s front end struck the front of a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 operated eastbound by Robert H. Shutter, 47, of Reading. Police said the collision occurred in the middle of Route 895 and both vehicles came to final rest on the left shoulder of the road.

Police said Shutter sustained suspected minor injuries and did not require an emergency transport.

Culp was cited for overtaking a vehicle on the left.
