Domestic dispute lands Tamaqua man in jail

A Tamaqua man spent the night in jail on June 19 after a domestic dispute resulted in his being charged with simple assault and harassment.

Police were called to the 200 block of Orwigsburg Street at 9:06 p.m. for a domestic in progress. They found Charles Heffelfinger Sr., 43, sitting at the kitchen table, bleeding from his nose. He told officers he wasn’t sure of what happened and appeared to be highly intoxicated.

Ambulance personnel attempted to examine Heffelfinger but he refused to speak with them or allow a survey.

After speaking with the other people in the home they determined there had been a verbal argument that turned physical with Heffelfinger shoving one woman into a rack, then kneeing her in the face. At that point two other people in the home came to the victim’s defense resulting in a bloody nose for the aggressor.

Heffelfinger was arraigned before duty District Judge James Reiley, of Pottsville, who set bail at $10,000 straight cash.

Hefflefinger was unable to post bond until the next day spending the night in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.
