A Tamaqua man joined his friend in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville after using the friend’s incarceration as a means of burglarizing the other man’s apartment.
Tamaqua police were called to a Mauch Chunk Street residence at 6:10 a.m. on June 16 after Dominic Chickilly, 27, of the100 block of E. Vernon Street, Summit Hill, entered the place by kicking in a door. The apartment’s legal tenant was jailed at the time. When contacted by police he said no one had permission to be inside his home.
Chickilly told police he was only there to recover his keys and a bag but there was a pile of items placed next to the door, including electronic tablets, wireless cameras and Playboy magazines.
Chickilly was arraigned before duty District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
The judge set bail at $25,000 straight cash, which he was unable to post.
