State police investigate traffic incidents

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks are investigating several traffic incidents involving alcohol or drugs.

• A 25-year-old Effort woman is facing charges of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks at 7:27 p.m. July 11 in the area of Merwinsburg and Valley roads in Chestnuthill Township. Police said she was observed committing a traffic infraction, after which time police discovered she appeared to be under the influence of drugs and to be in possession of marijuana.

• State police arrested Rohan Ricardo George Reid, 38, of Wilkes-Barre, on drug possession charges after a traffic stop at 7:55 p.m. June 14 on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township. Police said Reid was stopped for a window tint violation, after which time he advised the trooper he had marijuana in his vehicle. A search of the car yielded seven grams of crack cocaine and four grams of marijuana.

• Police said the driver of a vehicle that crashed at 5:57 p.m. July 13 off Route 715 in Jackson Township will face charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Police did not identify the driver but said the vehicle was a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that was traveling too fast for conditions near the intersection with Running Valley Road. The vehicle struck a boulder in a yard, coming to rest on top of it and resulting in functional damages to the vehicle. The driver was uninjured but was found slumped over the wheel of the vehicle. The car was towed from the scene.
