$3,000 in cash stolen in Penn Forest

State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a theft from a motor vehicle case in which a wallet containing $3,000 in cash was stolen.

The victim is a 55-year-old man from Jim Thorpe.

The incident was reported at 12:52 p.m. Aug. 9. It happened at the intersection of Midway and Bear Creek Lake drives, Penn Forest Township, when someone entered the 2013 Chrysler truck and took the victim’s black Coach wallet, valued at $50.

In addition to the cash, which was in various denominations, the thief took various credit cards.
