The Pennsylvania State Police will be actively searching for impaired drivers throughout Monroe County through Sunday.

During a DUI checkpoint initiative that started Thursday, police will be stopping vehicles to deter those who are drinking and/or using drugs or abusing prescription medications from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Police said the goal of the initiative is to reduce the chances of someone putting themselves and others at risk.
