Stolen motorbikes recovered in Tamaqua

A 27-year-old Tamaqua man and a 16-year-old male have been charged in connection with the theft of two motorbikes in Tamaqua.

Police received a report about the stolen motorbikes on Sept. 14. The caller said the bikes were stored at the rear of a property in the 100 block of Penn Street and were now missing. A neighbor’s video surveillance camera captured the thefts, which occurred at two separate times by two different males.

At 7:59 p.m., a short, younger male, entered the neighbor’s property and left with one of the bikes, pushing it west toward Bowe Street. An older man is seen taking the second bike at 8:26 p.m. The older male had a large, bushy haircut and visible tattoos. He too heads west toward Bowe Street.

After the thefts the victim posted the incident on Facebook and received a tip that the bikes were taken to a Hunter Street apartment house. A Hunter Street resident recognized the description of the older male, who he knew as “Breezy”. He also recognized the younger male and provided officers with his nickname.

Officers went to “Breezy’s home on Hunter Street and found the missing motorbikes in a hallway leading to the kitchen.

John B. “Breezy” Roman, 27, and the 16-year-old, were charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Roman was also charged with corruption of a minor.
