Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on April 17 with 25 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Time to Look to Heaven.”

The group chanced off a food basket that was won by a member. One member brought a guest.

Machamer gave each member a doughnut and a candy bar. On June 4, “Senior Day” will be held at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is Holy Humor Sunday. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. and Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m.

On Thursday, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m., and the Senior Choir rehearses at 7 p.m.

Calvary Evangelical

The Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in the Lewistown Valley will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a message by Pastor Kim Leskowich. There will be a baby baptism, making it a special Sunday. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m.

There will be no Sunday evening service.

The Wednesday prayer and share will be held at 7 p.m.

All are welcome to worship Jesus and be renewed in their spirit of faith.

Zion Lewistown

The Zion Men’s Group will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hall.

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on April 22 with 38 members present.

President Robert Neifert opened the meeting, and the invocation, “Simplicity,” was read. One member was added to the sick list.

The group chanced off a Thirty-One garden basket that was won by a member.

Two members were welcomed back. The summer picnic will be held June 8 with food by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven. Members are asked to bring their own desserts. An auction with new items valued at $10 will be held.

The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Christ Church, Barnesville. The next meeting will be held May 13.

Vendor fair

A vendor fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 3 at St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua. There will be many vendors with their goods. There will also be a basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing. Light lunch foods will be available beginning at 11 a.m.

Special luncheon

A Garden Birthday Party Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 13 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg. Theresa McGowan of Chesapeake, Virginia, will speak on “From Brokenness to Joy.” Special music will be provided by Michelle Canfield, and Michelle Williams will show attendees how to repurpose a wreath.
