April 8, 1999 — Pleasant Valley’s Gerry Washack pitches a two-hit shutout to lead the Bears to a 7-0 Mountain Valley Conference victory over visiting East Stroudsburg. Washack allows just one walk and strikes out seven to keep PV, coached by Jeff Kashner, undefeated through its first five games. Kellen Economy delivers the biggest hit in the game, connecting for a three-run double. The winners also receive a two-run single off the bat of Mike Borger. The Bears also triumph in the softball game as Jessica Martin and Kim Smith both collect three hits during a 15-0 win. Martin knocks in three runs, while Smith ends with two RBIs.
