Washington Township supervisors
Washington Township supervisors conducted the following business:
• Hired Duane Dellecker for the position of zoning officer/planning director at the starting rate of $72,500 annually approved benefits, taking over for Alberta Scarfaro. Dellecker comes to Washington Township from Upper Macungie where he was the building code inspector.
• Jaindl-Daubenspeck Mobile Home Park-Old Post Road was given a wavier request and given conditional approval for 14 single homes instead of the mobile home park.
• Chairman Josh Friebolin read a thank-you note from Greg and Sharon Miller of North Loop Road, Slatington after a fire destroyed their out building. The note read, “We want to thank Washington Township for sending a truck full of salt for our very long driveway, which was all ice. It allowed the fire department to get to our home.”
• Approved a Veteran’s Exemption Request for 8523 Rextown Road, Real estate tax exemption commencing on Jan. 1 for Jeffrey Kunkle.
• Supervisors appointed Chris London to the planning commission with a term through 2026.
• Approved Melissa Lily to continue to open and lock bathrooms at Slatedale Park for the summer.
• Released the budgeted amount of $1,000 to the Emerald Playground Association for the 2025 donation.
• A burn ban with the recommendation from the fire chiefs in the township.
• Agreed to advertise for summer help for the road crew.
• Awarded a contract for $399,205.40 to Asphalt Maintenance Solutions for Hickory Road, Spring Valley Road and Creek Road.

Joe Mead and Matt Stevens, attended the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program class.
EMA will participating in two exercises. One will be for the Limerick Power Plant hosted by Lehigh County EMA and Upper Saucon Township and the PEM Helicopter aquatic rescue team drill hosted by Emerald and Germansville fire companies. Dates to be announced.
