Palmerton registered wins in baseball and softball on Thursday, as both defeated Catasauqua.

BASEBALL

Catasauqua-Palmerton

Brady Reph and A.J. Borger combined on a two-hitter to pace Palmerton to a 4-1 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Reph tossed a no-hitter through four frames, and Borger was touched for one run and two hits over three innings.

Luke Matsko had two hits and two RBIs for the winners, while Jason Carrelli added a pair of hits.

Weatherly-Minersville

A five-run opening inning got Minersville off to a good start, and the Battlin’ Miners ran away with an 11-1 Schuylkill League win over visiting Weatherly.

Easton Schultz paced the Miners with two singles, four runs and an RBI, while Owen Fortna added two singles and two RBIs.

Trent Higgins had the Wreckers’ only hit — a single — and also scored his team’s lone run.

SOFTBALL

Catasauqua-Palmerton

Palmerton jumped out to a big lead and cruised to a 15-0 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Tessa Sander belted a solo homer in the second and ended with two hits and two RBIs. Mackenzie Ferber had two hits, including a two-run homer, and Olivia Kalman, who also had two hits, ripped a two-run hit in Palmerton’s nine-run second frame.

Ava Wetzel had the only hit for Catasauqua.

Weatherly led early, but Minersville quickly tied the game and went on to post a 15-3 Schuylkill League victory.

Ashley Zuberi’s fielder’s choice RBI accounted for the game’s first run in the first for the visiting Wreckers, while Abby Teodorescu added a two-run double.

Payton Frantz had the big bat for the’ Miners with two hits and three RBIs, while Sara McGrath finished with a single, triple, two walks, three runs and two RBIs.

Northwestern-So. Lehigh

Matt Mantz scored three goals to help Southern Lehigh edge Northwestern, 8-5, in Colonial League play.

Braydon Uricchio netted three goals, and Dane Kuker recorded eight saves for the Tigers.

Emmaus cruised to a 17-4 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over visiting Pleasant Valley.

Kaleb Mains led the way for the Green Hornets, as he tallied five goals and dished off three assists.

Jewlien Torres added four goals, while Greyson Schmidt posted three goals and an assist.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Emmaus-Pleasant Valley

Rylee Rath’s eight goals and two assists highlighted Pleasant Valley’s 14-5 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Emmaus.

Devon Bush joined in on the Bears’ offensive barrage with five goals and three helpers, while Olivia Iandoli added a single score.
