Inmate who escaped transport van caught

A Nesquehoning man faces an additional charge after he escaped from a transport van earlier this month.

Carbon County Sheriff Daniel Zeigler reported that Talon Lewis, 27, was on the run after he fled from a Pyramid Rehabilitation transport vehicle on March 12.

On March 17, the sheriff’s officers received multiple tips that Lewis was seen in the area.

Deputies and Lansford police searched multiple residences and eventually found Lewis in a home in Summit Hill.

He was taken into custody and now faces an additional felony charge of escape. He previously had been charged with six felony counts of manufacturing, delivery or possession with intent to deliver; two felony counts of criminal use of a communications facility; and one misdemeanor count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Zeigler commended the public for its assistance and information received on Lewis.

He also commended the Lansford Police Department, specifically officers Shawn Nunemacher and Josh Tom for their assistance in apprehending Lewis.

Lewis is currently being housed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment.

According to court dockets, bail that had previously been set at $90,000 unsecured bail, has been revoked.
