Schuylkill County man jailed for robbery

A Schuylkill County man was jailed over the weekend on a robbery charge in which he took less than $7 worth of merchandise from the victim.

State police at Frackville said Jason E. Conner, 41, of Pitman, entered Boyer’s Market, in Ashland, around 9 p.m. on Saturday and concealed merchandise. He then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. He was confronted by a clerk, who he shoved aside to make his getaway.

Troopers said through an investigation, Conner was identified as the suspect and was located on Sunday in an apartment in Ashland. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge David Rossi, of Tremont, on charges of robbery, retail theft and harassment. He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $30,000 straight cash bail.
