Man charged with second theft

A Schuylkill County man, already jailed on robbery and theft charges, had another count of theft filed against him.

State police at Frackville have charged Jason E. Conner, 41, of Pitman, with retail theft for an incident that occurred on Jan. 5 at the Dollar General Store in Ashland. Troopers said Conner entered the store about 9:30 p.m. and took an item valued at $2.50 and another valued at $1.95 without paying for either. A review of surveillance video identified Conner.

Also on Saturday, Conner entered Boyer’s Market, in Ashland, around 9 p.m. and concealed merchandise. He then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. He was confronted by a clerk, who he shoved aside to make his getaway. Conner was located on Sunday in an apartment in Ashland and taken into custody. He was arraigned on those charges and committed to the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $30,000 straight cash bail.

He was arraigned on the new charge through closed-circuit video at the county prison and remains an inmate there.
