MONROE COUNTY CRASHES

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following crashes:

• Alexander Kopeikas, 71, of Pocono Summit, had minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 7:17 p.m. March 5 on Interstate 80 in Stroud Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg.

Police said the crash occurred when a Toyota RAV4 driven by Domenic Landaeta-Rosato, 39, of Brodheadsville, traveling west on the interstate, left its lane and sideswiped a 2017 Ford Transit operated by Kopeikas. They said the Transit was disabled on the right westbound shoulder of I-80 at the time.

Police said both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed.

Landaeta-Rosato was cited after the crash, according to police.

• Four people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 6:49 p.m. March 3 on Route 611 in Hamilton Township.

Police said Sebastian Marrero-Quiles, 19, of East Stroudsburg, Taranee I. Arenas, 18, of Tobyhanna, and a 17-year-old boy from the Bronx, New York, all had minor injuries and were transported by personnel from the Suburban Ambulance Corps to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg.

John Bowman Jr., 71, of Mount Pocono, was also transported to the same hospital, police said. The severity of his injuries is unknown, they said.

Police said the crash occurred when Marrero-Quiles, driving a 2014 Honda Accord north on Route 611, made an unsafe left-hand turn and was hit by a 2018 Nissan operated southbound by Patricia M. Stein, 55, of Cresco.

Arenas and the boy from the Bronx were passengers with Marrero-Quiles, police said, while Bowman was a passenger with Stein, who was uninjured.

Marrero-Quiles was cited after the crash, according to police.

• David C. Corliss, 60, of Reading, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:42 p.m. Feb. 25 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Isuzu northbound and was approaching an active work zone when the vehicle left its lane and hit a concrete barrier. It was towed from the scene.

Corliss was cited after the crash, according to police.

• Devin P. Hicks, 35, of Quakertown, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a two-vehicle crash at 11:08 p.m. Feb. 8 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado southbound in the right lane when he made an abrupt change to the left lane in front of a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by John Dragos, 65, of Troy, Michigan.

Dragos was unable to avoid contact with the Silverado, striking it in the rear, at which time Hicks lost control of his vehicle and it struck the guide rail on the right side of the road, police said.

Neither vehicle required towing from the scene.
