Northern Lehigh School Board
Northern Lehigh School Board approved the following matters on Monday:
Curriculum and Instruction
• Purchase of Connections: OG in 3D training and materials, not to exceed $16,600, to be funded with 25% from Peters Elementary, 25% from Slatington Elementary School, and 50% through the special education budget.
• Authorize Community Services for Children to operate the Head Start Preschool program at Peters Elementary School from Aug. 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026, with the only obligation to the district to provide one classroom.
• Comprehensive plan (July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028), including the following subplans: Academic Standards and Assessment Requirement; Gifted Education Plan Assurances; Student Services Plan Assurances; Induction Plan; and Professional Development Plan.
• Authorize Superintendent Dr. Matthew J. Link to execute an intergovernmental agreement between the district and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 to provide special education services for the 2025-2026 school year.
• Enter into an Affiliation Agreement with Gwynedd Mercy University for a school counselor preparation program with fieldwork at Northern Lehigh School District. The terms of the agreement will be from March 11, 2025 through March 10, 2026.
• 2025-2026 Northern Lehigh School District calendar, allowing administration to post the calendar.
• Resolution to identify Official Local School District Holidays in accordance with PA School Code Section 1502.
Conferences
• Superintendent Dr. Matthew J. Link, National Superintendents Forum, April 5-8, St. Louis, Missouri, with the cost of lodging, $265, travel, $583, and meals, $120, for a total cost of about $968, to be funded through the superintendent’s budget.
• Scott Pyne, 2025 ASCD/ISTE Live Annual Conference, June 29-July 2, San Antonio, Texas, cost of meals, $240, and other, $100, for a total cost of about $340, to be funded through the curriculum budget.
• Blasia Dunham, 2025 ASCD/ISTE Live Annual Conference, June 29-July 2, with the cost of lodging, $960, and the cost of meals, $240, for a total cost of about $1,200, to be funded through the assistant superintendent’s PD budget.
• MaryJo King, 2025 PAEOP Annual Spring Conference, April 2-4, Harrisburg, with the cost of registration, $375, lodging, $227, travel, $119, and meals, $60, for a total cost of about $781, to be funded through the superintendent’s budget.
Other
• New Collective Bargaining agreement between the district and the Northern Lehigh White-Collar Education Support Professionals Association.
• Five-year agreement with Merlyn Mind for five years to access Merlyn Origin A1-powered teacher assistant, to be funded through the Mobile Science and Mathematics Education Program Grant at no cost to the district.
