Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Feb. 27 with 22 members present.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. One new member was welcomed and one member was welcomed back. Members were warned of a scam centered around VISA cards.
The seniors meet at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex, weather permitting. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
St. Peter’s West Penn
The 9 a.m. worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is Girl Scout Sunday, and there will be a Joyous Noise offering. Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Tuesday is the deadline for the April newsletter, and the Prayer Group meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
On Wednesday, retirees meet at 9:30 a.m., and there will be a 7 p.m. midweek Lenten Service at St. John’s. On March 13, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m. and the Senior Choir rehearses at 7 p.m.
Thrift Sale
The March Blessings Thrift Shop sale will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets, Tamaqua.
The sale will feature gently used clothing, toys, books, and general household items. A limited takeout menu is offered.
If you have items to donate to the Blessings ministry, call the parish office at 570-668-2180 and someone will get back to you.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Kim Leskovich will share the preparation of hearts for Easter and will share about bread at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Enthusiastic singing will be performed. All are welcome. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m.
There will be no Sunday evening service and no Wednesday evening prayer group meetings during Lent. Lenten services are offered by the New Ringgold Ministerium.
Andreas VFW
The Andreas VFW will meet at 7 p.m. March 12 at the West Penn Annex.
