Woman’s Club names Girls of the Month
The Woman’s Club of Slatington has announced the Girls of the Month for December, January and February.
December recipient
Northern Lehigh High School senior Grace Bauer of Walnutport has been chosen as their Girl of the Month for December.
Grace is the daughter of Jennifer and Ronald Bauer. She has a younger sister named Rachel.
Her activities include president of Leo Lions Club, Student Council serving as chairperson of the Outreach Commitee, National Honor Society, varsity softball, and she is a member of her church youth group.
She has been accepted into the DeSales Honors Program, where high school students attend college courses at the university. Grace also received the Presidential Scholarship from DeSales University.
In her free time, Grace enjoys reading and working out. She also likes to spend time with her family relaxing at the beach on family vacation. Her future plans include studying early childhood education at DeSales University to become an elementary school teacher one day.
January recipient
Northern Lehigh High School senior Sarah Hanzarik has been chosen as the Girl of the Month for January.
Sarah is the daughter of Michael and Denise Hanzarik. She has a brother named Brady.
Her activities include president of Student Council, Secretary of Students Against Destructive Decisions, secretary of German Club, National Honor Society, and varsity field hockey.
She received a player ovation in field hockey and was invited to speak at the PIAA Sports Leadership Conference.
Sarah also received the President’s Education Award for outstanding academic excellence.
Outside of school, Sarah upholds a job and plays field hockey at the club level. Her future plans include studying architectural engineering at a college.
February recipient
Northern Lehigh High School senior Mikayla Gordon has been chosen as the Girl of the Month for February.
Mikayla is the daughter of Jason and Sarah Gordon. She has a brother named Landon.
Her activities include serving as vice president in Students Against Destructive Decisions, National Honor Society, Student Council, and varsity soccer and track and field. She has played soccer for 13 years, including five years on a competitive travel team. She has competed in track and field for six years.
Mikayla was accepted into the Emerging Health Professionals Program at LCTI/LCCC for her senior year.
As a sophomore, Mikayla received the “Heart of the Bulldog” Award and as a junior she received the “MVP” award from her high school soccer coaches and teammates. She served as team captain her senior year.
As a sophomore and junior, Mikayla and her 4x8 relay team beat the school record twice and went to States for the 4x8 event her junior year.
She was nominated to Homecoming Court her senior year.
Outside of school, Mikayla enjoys baking, swimming in the ocean, playing pickleball and miniature golf. She spends time with her friends, family, boyfriend and two cats.
Her future plans include attending Pennsylvania College of Technology to play soccer and study biomedical sciences and become a physician assistant.
