State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported a Walnutport man was involved in a crash in Monroe County.
Javier Sierra, 30, of Walnutport, had minor injuries in a multivehicle crash at 8:49 a.m. on Feb. 13 on Interstate 80. Police said Sierra was transported by Pocono Mountain Regional EMS to St. Luke’s Hospital in Bartonsville.
According to police, Sierra lost control of a 2018 Nissan Rogue while traveling eastbound, causing it to veer into a snow-covered embankment before striking a 2024 Ford Explorer parked on the shoulder with its emergency lights activated. The impact caused the Explorer to hit a second 2024 Ford Explorer, which then spun clockwise and struck a 2021 Chevrolet Spark driven by Kayla B. Chelley, 22, of Pocono Summit. The Spark was stuck in a snow-covered embankment at the time.
Police said the drivers of both Explorers were actively pushing the Spark when the crash occurred. The Nissan Rogue and both Ford Explorers were towed from the scene, while the Chevrolet Spark was able to be driven away. Sierra was cited for the crash.
