February 21, 1963 — George Armbruster scores a game-high 24 points and Jim Thorpe holds on for a narrow 57-56 victory over Pocono Mountain. The Olympians, coached by Kenny Kline, open up an 11-point advantage early in the second quarter before the Cardinals slowly climb back into the game, eventually cutting the gap to two late in the third. Baskets by Armbruster help Thorpe take a five-point lead into the final period. Two free throws by Larry Morris and a basket by Jack Kmetz put the Olympians up by six late in the fourth which proves to be just enough. Morris finishes with 10 points, while Ronnie Hydro chips in with eight.
