State police at Frackville - crashes

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:

• Eric V. Petritsch, 76, of Mahanoy City, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 7:40 a.m. Feb. 9 on Route 54 in Hauto, Rush Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Tamaqua Community Ambulance Association to St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.

Police said Petritsch was driving a 217 Mack truck west when it went off the road onto the north shoulder, traveled down an embankment and overturned.

The vehicle was towed from the scene. Petritsch was cited after the crash, police said.

• Josse Gonzalez-Espinal, 31, of Coal Township, was cited for driving after a one-vehicle crash at 9:01 a.m. on Feb. 13 on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger when he attempted to exit on a right curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the concrete barrier along the west shoulder. It had to be towed from the scene.

• John J. Petillo, 34, of Mahanoy City, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 2:53 p.m. on Feb. 15 on Mountain Road in Blythe Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from Schuylkill Valley EMS to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Petillo was driving a 2010 Honda Pilot south when he lost control of it while negotiating a right curve, police said. The vehicle hit an embankment on the west side of the road, rotated counterclockwise and rolled onto its roof. It was towed from the scene.

He was cited after the crash, police said.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:25 p.m. on Feb. 15 on Route 443 in East Brunswick Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Enos R. Ahner Jr., 50, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2006 Cadillac westbound and was traveling too fast for conditions. The vehicle went out of control, entered the eastbound lane and continued, striking a tree along the south shoulder.

Police said Ahner was transported by personnel from the New Ringgold Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

• Adam Perna, 28, of Kelayres, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 1:18 p.m. on Feb. 15 on Mile Hill (Route 309) in Kline Township.

Police said the severity of his injuries is unknown. He was transported by personnel from the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

Police said he was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 south on the snow-covered roadway when he lost control of it, and the pickup traveled off the right side of the road and hit an embankment.

Police said Perna lost consciousness as a result of the crash.

• Police investigated a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car at 2:31 p.m. on Feb. 12 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. No one was injured in the incident.

They said a 2024 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer driven by William E. Goff, 68, of Louisville, Kentucky, was northbound when a 2023 Toyota Camry operated by Austin D. Shaffer, 27, of Berwick, attempted to pass it, at which time the rig entered the left lane of travel and was struck by the Camry.

The Camry had to be towed from the scene, while the rig was able to be driven from it.

Police said Goff was cited after the crash.

• Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer involved in a crash at 6:07 p.m. on Feb. 12 on Interstate 81 in Kline Township was uninjured.

They said Ronny Diaz, 29, of Carlisle, was driving the 2023 Freightliner northbound when a Chevrolet Impala attempted to merge onto the interstate and entered the path of the rig, resulting in a sideswiping incident. Police said the driver of the Impala left the scene.

• Jordan M. Gasaway, 31, of University Park, Maryland, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 3:27 p.m. on Feb. 15 on Interstate 81 in Delano Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency and Rescue Squad to St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.

Police said he was driving a 2021 Lexus southbound when it traveled off the roadway and struck several small trees in the median, rolled onto its driver’s side and came to rest in the median facing southeast.
