Crusaders donate to Lehighton Fire Dept.

Lehighton Fire Department is the latest beneficiary of a contribution from a Palmerton organization.

Crusaders For A Cause Inc. donated various water equipment to the Lehighton Fire Department on Saturday morning.

The equipment, which totaled around $650, includes a 300-foot spool of tubular webbing; four large aluminum rigging plates; six SMC CRX crevasse pulleys; and one RQ3 picket anchor plate.

“The donation was greatly appreciated,” said Lehighton Fire Department 1st Lt. Scott Nothstein. “This will also help for our water rescue certification.”

Lehighton Chief Patrick Mriss stated that the department receives anywhere from two to 12 calls a year for water rescue between Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh, Northampton and Luzerne counties.

Crusaders For A Cause were more than glad to aide the Lehighton Fire Department’s cause, said Larry Zawaly, treasurer, Crusaders For A Cause Inc.

“We are happy to supply them with some equipment that we were able to purchase from our 18th annual spring carnival that will aide in their services,” Zawaly said.
