NL allows drum corps practice
Northern Lehigh School District has granted its consent to Drum Corps International to use its facilities this summer.
The school board unanimously agreed on Monday to allow Drum Corps International to use the high school, fields, field house, and stadium complex from July 31 to Aug. 3 for Boston Area Crusaders to practice and prepare for their competitions in Allentown the evenings of Aug. 1, 2, and 3.
Their rehearsal in Bulldog Stadium is open to the local community at no cost to spectators.
The board also approved the following matters on Monday:
Curriculum and instruction
• Amend the motion approved at the Jan. 13 board meeting for the purchase of additional Amplify CKLA materials to integrate it into learning support classrooms at a cost of $12,316, with funding to come from the Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction budget.
• Kyle Kreamer, mentor, for Ricardo Babilonia, stipend $200, in accordance with the Northern Lehigh School District Administrative Support Staff Agreement.
Conferences
• Krystle Tiedeman, PSLA Annual Conference, April 2 to 4, Erie, registration $596, lodging $616, travel $417, and meals $180, for a total cost of about $1,448, to be funded through the high school professional development budget.
• Gabryella Wilder, NSTA Philadelphia Conference, March 26 to 29, Philadelphia, lodging $837, for a total cost of about $837, to be funded through the curriculum budget.
CLIU board of directors
• Director Gale Husack to be placed on the 2025 ballot for Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.
Expulsion
Hearings were held for two students.
