Second man in Slatington rape in custody

The second of two men charged with raping a Slatington woman on Friday in the 200 block of Walnut Street in that borough turned himself in to authorities on Monday and is being held in the Lehigh County Prison, Allentown, in lieu of $400,000 bail.

Jacquan Tanasse, 18, of Slatington, is facing charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal conspiracy to commit rape, strangulation, sexual assault, unlawful restraint and indecent assault, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan. He and Slatington’s acting police chief, William Borst, announced the latest details of the case Monday.

Previously, they announced the arrest of Tristan Richard Zawick, 22, of Whitehall, who they said was detained at the scene of the incident. He is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal conspiracy to commit rape, sexual assault and indecent assault.

Police said they were summoned to the residence just before 7 p.m. Friday to investigate the incident, saying a female teen, whose name and age will not be released, was located in the basement of the home. She told police she had been raped by Zawick and Tanasse.

The teen told police the two men raped her, physically restrained her and wrapped a cord around her wrists. She also alleged Tanasse choked her during the assault.

A preliminary hearing for Tanasse is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Feb. 18.

Zawick’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday

The investigation of the case is continuing and is headed by the district attorney’s Special Victims Unit Detective Thomas Galloway and the Slatington Police Department.

Holihan said the case will be prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Sara Moyer and Senior Deputy District Attorney Sarah K. Heimbach.
