The Banks Township supervisors are having problems with how people handle snow.
Foe one thing, private snowplow drivers are not being considerate of where they are putting the snow they plow.
Tresckow resident Dave Gentile said a plow driver put snow on his sidewalk.
“They put it right on my front sidewalk,” Gentile said. “It’s out of control. They are doing whatever they want.”
Supervisor William Nice asked John Solt, the township solicitor, what could be done about parking in narrow alleys.
Solt said the township could enact a snow parking law, or change the one it has.
“I had a tough time getting through the alleys after this last storm,” Nice said.
“It’s getting worse,” said Supervisor Rick Porpiglia.
“It’s also a safety hazard, if a firetruck had to get down an alley,” Gentile added.
UCC board
On another matter, the supervisors approved a resolution enacting a Uniform Construction Code appeals board.
The board would hear appeals made from decisions by the township zoning officer, which is ARRO Engineering.
The three-member panel will be: Angelo Pozzessere, a local contractor; David Bodnar Jr., an architectural engineer; and Bryan Maurer, a construction engineer.
“This will help us with construction, especially in the (McAdoo) Industrial Park,” Nice said. “It will give us better control. It is more in-depth.”
The supervisors also approved a new fire alarm ordinance that establishes a penalty for any firm that has two false alarms within a 90-day period.
The maximum penalty would be a $300 fine and/or 90 days in jail.
