State police at Hazleton - crashes
State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:
• Tami Englehart, 53, of Weatherly, was cited for following too closely after a three-vehicle crash at 7:09 a.m. Jan. 29 on Route 940 in Hazle Township. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said Englehart was driving a 2013 Subaru Legacy northbound near the intersection with Sophia Cox Drive when the car struck a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado operated by Gary J. Bellitts, 62, of McAdoo, pushing it into at 2022 Ford Maverick driven by Nathan J. Wolfe, 27, of Freeland.
The Colorado and Maverick were stopped, police said, as Wolfe was attempting to turn left onto Sophia Cox Drive.
Police said the Subaru had to be towed from the scene while the other two vehicles were able to be driven away.
• Madelyn T. Parsley, 24, of Lehighton, had minor injuries after a crash at 3:24 p.m. Jan. 27 on Packer Drive in Packer Township.
Police said she did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.
Parsley was operating a 2017 Toyota Prius westbound when she was unable to see a parked UPS truck in the roadway due to the glare of the sun, police said. They said the Prius struck the truck, which was operated by Collin M. Leibensperger, 31, of Tuscarora, which then struck a utility pole.
Parsley was cited after the crash, police said.
• Kyle J. Kester, 44, of Tamaqua, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:53 p.m. Jan. 23 on Interstate 81 in Butler Township.
Police said he was operating a 2013 Toyota RAV4 southbound when a deer emerged into his travel lane. The vehicle hit the deer and sustained disabling damage that required it to be towed from the scene.
• Nail Adzemovic, 45, of Hanover Township, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:25 a.m. Jan. 25 on Route 309 in Banks Township.
Police said he was driving a 2024 Nissan northbound when it struck a deer that ran across the roadway near the intersection with Church Street.
The car had to be towed from the scene.
