State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police were summoned to a reported burglary at 5:02 a.m. on Jan. 13 at a diner along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
A 34-year-old woman from Saylorsburg and a 57-year-old man from Kunkletown reported that someone used a pry bar to enter the business through the rear door and proceeded to the front of the building, where a cutting torch was used to remove the cash box from an ATM and a claw machine game.
• A 23-year-old man from Effort was targeted in a criminal mischief incident that was reported to police at 4:07 p.m. on Feb. 4.
The incident occurred on Effort Village Drive, Chestnuthill Township, where someone poured sand into the gas tank of the man’s 2007 Chevrolet. He attempted to operate his 2011 Honda, police said, but two flat tires occurred because of numerous screws in the front tires.
Police said it is believed the damage took place between Jan. 22-26.
• A 43-year-old Effort man is facing multiple charges, including illegal possession of firearms, after police made a traffic stop at 12:53 a.m. on Jan. 5 on Burger Hollow Road, Polk Township.
Police said the man was found to be in possession of a handgun and drugs, and that drug-related paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle he was driving.
Police said through the investigation, the man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
The vehicle was towed to the state police barracks, pending a search warrant, after which time troopers seized an additional firearm, ammunition, firearm accessories, drugs and drug-related paraphernalia.
• A 41-year-old Effort man is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 1:26 a.m. on Jan. 17 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was a passenger in a 2012 Suzuki that they stopped.
• Police said a Jim Thorpe area man arrived at their barracks at 12:57 p.m. on Jan. 25 to report he was the victim of a theft incident.
The Penn Forest Township (Meadowbrook Drive and Stony Mountain Road) resident said that on Jan. 20 his EBT Snap Card was used without his authorization in San Antonio, Texas, by someone who obtained $40 in cash and bought $60.91 in food with use of the card.
• Police are investigating a theft/fraud/forgery targeting a 54-year-old woman from Albrightsville.
The resident of Shortridge Road, Penn Forest Township, told police she was “scammed” out of $17,000 by an individual whom she met online.
• A 38-year-old Effort woman told police someone stole a wheel off her 2009 Honda Accord between 5:02 and 5:18 a.m. on Feb. 3 at her property on Shafer Drive, Chestnuthill Township.
The Avatar tire and 17-inch rim were valued at $350, police said.
• A 43-year-old man from Bangor is facing drug possession charges and charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controller substance after police found him sleeping in his vehicle at 10:41 p.m. on Feb. 1 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he drove his 2011 Ford Fusion to an gas station lot and parked it. He was found asleep with many empty beer cans on the passenger side of the car.
Police said that during a consent search of the vehicle they found a THC vape cartridge. He also had a vape pen containing a THC vape cartridge in his possession, police said.
• Alexander Trushin, 38, of Stroudsburg, was charged with unsworn falsification to authorities and sale of transfer of firearms after they were summoned at 3:12 p.m. on Jan. 27 to Chestnuthill Township.
Police said the charges are the result of an investigation of a firearms purchase attempt by Trushin, who they said is not authorized to possess a firearm.
