Gary Hamilton, 45, of Philadelphia, was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, after he was found to be in possession of 35 bags of heroin at 12:31 p.m. Feb. 7 on Interstate 80 westbound in East Side Borough.
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks arrested him after a traffic stop, having observed him commit several traffic violations in his 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Police said Hamilton initially provided a false name to troopers, but upon discovering his real identity, police learned Hamilton was found to have an active NCIC warrant out for his arrest for violation of a Philadelphia County probation order.
Hamilton was arraigned and housed at the Carbon County Correctional Facility.
