Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lehighton announces schedule
Saints Peter and Paul Church announces its schedule for the church located at 260 N. Third St., Lehighton:
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered on the Lord’s Day at Saints Peter and Paul Parish by the Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis, assisted by Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr., throughout the year at 4 p.m. on Saturdays, 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 8 a.m. Daily Masses are on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and first Saturdays at 8 a.m. We welcome you, or welcome you back, to worship the Lord at our parish.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is available from 5-6 p.m. on Thursdays, and about 30 minutes before Masses on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Effective Jan. 30, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for personal prayer every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. We particularly need adorers for the last hour. On first Fridays, we also have Adoration and Confessions available from 6-9 p.m.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of formation for disciples of Jesus in the Catholic Church. • Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Allentown is accepting appointments and walk-ins at the parish convent building from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Services include individual, marriage and family counseling; pregnancy and parenting support (counseling, material assistance such as diapers, wipes, baby items); and supportive services (case management, material assistance, emergency rental assistance, referrals). • The parish Saint Vincent de Paul Society hosts “Vincent’s Closet” by appointment in the former convent building on 242 N. Third St. The society offers clothing and toiletries for those in need and seeks donations of the same. For more information, call Esther at 570-657-6738.
• The Lehighton Cold Weather Station, in the basement of the former Ebenezer UMC at the top of the town square, provides temporary shelter for local homeless persons. The St. Vincent de Paul Society needs help with chaperones, prayer partners, meals and donations. Events
• The Knights of Columbus Damien Council 598 meets on the first Tuesday of every month in our parish hall at 7 p.m., followed by the Msgr. Agnello Angelini Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting is Feb. 4.
• Super Bowl LIX Bingo takes place on Sunday, Feb. 9, in the church hall. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and games will kick off at 1 p.m. The fundraising event, which has a cost, benefits the parish. Tickets are available by calling Phil at 610-217-4768, purchasing them after this weekend’s Masses, or visiting the rectory.
Inclement weather
To assure the best possible surfaces for pedestrians, we will adopt a policy for daily Mass that works off the Lehighton Area School District schedule: On days when school is delayed or closed, that weekday Mass will be offered privately. Other scheduled activities on those days will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This policy is subject to change, and we appreciate your understanding.
