The Schuylkill County Commissioners approved a number of projects in and near Tamaqua during their meeting Wednesday morning.
The commissioners approved a $10,191 contract for engineering services with ARRO Consulting for an Americans with Disabilities Act improvement project at Zion Grove Park in West Penn Township.
Cheryl Fuss, from the county Grant Writer’s Office, said the project will build walking paths around the park.
The commissioners also approved an $8,700 contract with Alfred Benesch & Co. Inc. for engineering services for street improvement work on Glenwood Avenue in Tamaqua.
Fuss said the project involved 575 feet from Columbia Street to Clark Street, and another 660 feet from Market Street to Elizabeth Street.
The commissioners also approved another $8,700 contract with Benesch for a street improvement project on Lafayette Street in Tamaqua. Fuss said 573 feet of Lafayette Street will be paved from Church Driveway to Haggerty Avenue.
The commissioners voted to enter into a cooperation agreement with the Borough of Tamaqua for a demolition project at 35, 37 and 39 N. Railroad St. in Tamaqua.
They then awarded a $21,333 contract to Daniel J. Farber to demolish the three properties, which Fuss said were damaged in a fire.
