Police report man jumped on truck, threatened driver

Tamaqua police have charged a borough man who allegedly jumped on the trunk of another man’s car and threatened him.

Charges of criminal mischief, harassment and disorderly conduct were filed against Marcus Stewart, 34, following the 4:45 p.m. Jan. 7 incident on the 600 block of East Broad Street.

According to police, the victim said he was driving near the intersection of East Broad and Columbia streets when a vehicle driven by Stewart traveled through a red light. The man said he had to swerve to avoid being hit. He told police that when Stewart parked his vehicle, he went to take a picture of the license plate so he could report the incident to police.

As he was taking a photo, Stewart approached his door and jumped on his trunk. He told police that Stewart yelled and threatened him as he asked why the man was photographing his vehicle. The man said the incident broke his running board. Stewart told police that he yelled at the man and tried to open his door but did not jump on the vehicle.
