Tamaqua police charged Lonnie Stevens-Goldburg, 40, Tamaqua, with strangulation, simple assault and harassment following a 5:07 p.m. incident on Jan. 7 on the 600 block of East Broad Street.

According to police, officers were called to a domestic fight involving Stevens-Goldburg and a woman. Police spoke to Stevens-Goldburg, who said he was trying to restrain his girlfriend from fighting with upstairs neighbors.

The woman told police that she was arguing with a neighbor when Stevens-Goldberg grabbed her around the neck.

She told police that she almost blacked out, and that Stevens-Goldburg pushed her against a wall. She yelled to neighbors, asking them to call 911.
