Polk Twp. man dies in snowmobile crash in N.Y.
A 24-year-old Polk Township man died in a snowmobile crash on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the town of Camden, New York.
Dylan P. Dailey was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
According to WIBX Radio, Marcy, New York, authorities said he was riding a 2011 Ski-Doo Rev XP 600 snowmobile on a trail when he came upon a sharp curve and lost control of the snowmobile as it continued to exit the trail and strike several trees. Police said Dailey was ejected from the vehicle.
Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol said the Recreation Unit along with the Forensics Unit and the Criminal Investigations Unit were all called to investigate the crash. It is believed speed was a contributing factor of the crash, however, police did not reveal how fast Dailey was possibly going, the radio reported.
Maciol said Dailey was riding on the trails with another person, and said they were involved in the crash. That person was riding a separate snowmobile, but no further information was provided about their identity or if they sustained any injuries.
Dylan was a son of Alexia A. (Wise) Spain, wife of Judson “Jud” of Kunkletown and Keith E. Dailey of Albrightsville.
He had worked as an arborist with his stepfather, Jud, for their family-owned business, Drop Zone Tree Works, Blakeslee, for many years.
He played many sports, including basketball, football, baseball, track and field, and powerlifting, and was a Maxwell Football Club award winner, who later accepted into East Stroudsburg University with a scholarship to play football before changing paths and working with his stepfather.
In addition to his mother, father and stepfather, he is survived by a sister, Mia S. Dailey of Albrightsville; grandparents, Marie Wise of Blakeslee, Paul and Ruth Ann Dailey of Long Pond and Ellie and Terry Spain of Pleasant Valley, New York; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
