St. John’s Lutheran Church, located at 40 Second St., Slatington, is beginning a new social ministry called Senior Singles.

The group is open to benefit any adults in the community who is widowed, widowers, or single due to divorce or never married.

The church has 29 active widows and widowers and hopes to benefit the senior singles population by hosting fellowship opportunities and social events connecting single seniors with others who have shared interests.

They will also create a list of references for home repair, snow removal, and lawn care, and provide spiritual nurturing through Bible studies and adult education events.

The group will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday for an introduction seminar at the church with a snow date of Feb. 6.

Light refreshments will be served.

Speakers will be Pastor Halle Kleaver; Amber Horvath, funeral director; and state Rep. Zach Mako.
