Tamaqua borough council approved the following this week:

• Adopted an ordinance to prohibit parking on the southeast side of Mauch Chunk Street, which is near the driveway for the new police department and community center.

• Approved a handicapped parking space application for 306 Market St.

• Hired the Bowe & Odorizzi law firm to serve as legal counsel for employment and labor matters.

• Approved an update to the fire insurance ordinance to allow for the collection of delinquent taxes and fire department expenses.
